AITA?

Recently as last Saturday, I talked my group into moving on from a campaign. Honesty I feel slightly guilty. We have been playing Dungeons and Dragons Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden for about a year. I am not the dungeon master but a player. As many of you who read this blog knows I have Love / Hate relationship with Dungeons and Dragons as in I think the system is a bit tedious but overall a good system. I absolutely hate Hasbro (aka wizard of the coast) and their practices. I basically felt like the adventure was growing stale and we need a new system. Come to find out the Dungeon Master felt similar, but also wanted to finish the story.

I get this but I honestly was not having fun any more. It was nothing to do with poor dungeon mastering, but the system. Dungeons and Dragons feels so limiting even though it has lots of character options. So i convinced the dungeon master that we should try a few different systems to see what we would enjoy. I recommend Shadowdark, Basic Fantasy RPG, Tales of Argosa. She had a few that she wanted to try like stewpot and few others. We went to the players who said sure we will do anything pretty much. Most of them have never played any other games than Dungeons and Dragons.

After hearing this the Dungeon Master and Myself decided that we need to introduce these players to other systems. So we decided the next few session we will be running one shots with pregen characters. I am thinking of running Index Card RPG as my first game.

My guilt comes in the form of AITA? Should I have just finished the campaign. Mind you we were only half way through the adventure. I feel bad for almost forcing my opinions and beliefs on the party… well I better make some great one shots to make up for this catholic guilt. Let me know in the comments.. AITA?.
